RETROFIT TRAILER HITCH
A trailer hitch gives you various new possibilities, such as transporting bicycles or even trailers. The trailer coupling is also popular with camping fans, as the caravan can be towed along. At Auto Müller, you can retrofit the trailer hitch, i.e. have it installed at a later date.
The total weight must not exceed 3,500 kg (total weight vehicle and trailer), otherwise a BE trailer test must be completed additionally.
Demonstration of the trailer hitch:
The trailer coupling must be registered in the vehicle registration document, specifying the corresponding towing capacity. Auto Müller can assist you in registering your trailer coupling at the TCS in Volketswil. Please note that the TCS inspection fee of CHF 43.- is not included in the price. Additionally, there may be additional costs associated with the adapted vehicle registration certificate.
What kind of trailer hitches are available?
There are three different trailer hitch models, but not all models fit all vehicles.
Rigid trailer hitch:
With this model, the trailer hitch cannot be removed from the vehicle, but for this reason it is always ready for use. The rigid trailer hitch is considered one of the cheapest trailer hitch models and also lasts the longest. Auto Müller recommends this trailer hitch for people who need the trailer hitch regularly.
Detachable trailer hitch:
Here the ball bar can be removed and thus the trailer hitch is no longer visible. This pleases many visually better. Auto Müller recommends this model for people who do not need the trailer hitch often.
Swiveling trailer hitch:
With the swiveling trailer hitch, the hitch is not in the way because it swivels out of the way. The ball is matched to the shape of the bumper. Unfortunately, this model is not suitable for all vehicles, as the trailer hitch often does not have enough space behind the bumper.
