The DOT number is listed with 4 digits, the first two digits represent the calendar week and the last two digits represent the year. Here in this example: 1022 (week 10, year 2022). Auto Müller recommends not to exceed the age of the tires of 6 years, because the rubber compound hardens and your safety is no longer guaranteed. Here, too, it leads consequently again to an extended braking distance.

Car tires consist of many different materials that can be damaged by external influences (humidity, temperature, storage, etc.) as well as by application errors (driving with underinflated tires, driving over curbs, etc.).
