MOTOR VEHICLE INSPECTION
What is the motor vehicle inspection?
The MFK is the motor vehicle inspection. Every vehicle owner is obliged to present his car to the Road Traffic Office. For this purpose, everyone receives directly from the road traffic office the order for the car inspection. Auto Müller will gladly reschedule your appointment from the road traffic office to the TCS in Volketswil. In this way we want to make sure that the vehicle is roadworthy and complies with the legal requirements of operational safety.
How often do you have to go to the MFK?
Every car must go to the motor vehicle inspection in its own canton. However, the intervals may differ. The first inspection must be carried out no later than 5 years after the vehicle was first put on the market. The second inspection takes place after 3 more years. After that, the inspection must be carried out every 2 years. If you do not meet this deadline and do not show up at the appointment, the operating license for road traffic expires. A change of owner does not play a role when it comes to the inspection intervals.
This is what is checked during the motor vehicle inspection:
During the motor vehicle inspection, the vehicle is put through its paces to make sure everyone is safe on the road. The inspection experts check the braking system, the lighting system and the electrical system. They also check the emission performance and the additional documents. They check the steering equipment and the visibility conditions. In addition, the experts check the wheels, axles and suspensions. Finally, the chassis and all parts attached to it are checked, as well as other equipment. The vehicle is also checked for rust and whether non-original parts are properly registered.
That is why you should go to the MFK pre-check:
If you decide to have a pre-check before the MFK inspection, you can save high follow-up costs. The check contributes significantly to your car passing the inspection without any complaints. If you prefer to drive directly to the test center without a MFK pre-check (without cleaning the engine, checking the vehicle, etc.), you run the risk of rattling through the test. The additional costs for a rectification as well as the additional time is costly and expensive. With a MFK pre-check you can prevent these costs.
