Since August 1, 2023, the world of Swiss vignettes has changed fundamentally: The introduction of the e-vignette offers a modern alternative to the old-fashioned adhesive variant. In this article, we highlight the innovations and clarify the most important questions about the e-vignette.

The e-vignette can now be purchased easily via the online portal of the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG). The conventional adhesive vignette will not be replaced immediately, but will remain in use in parallel for the time being. Both variants are available for a uniform price of CHF 40 each.

Regardless of whether you are a car or truck driver, the use of the e-vignette remains identical. The payment process takes place either online or at a point of sale. When doing so, you enter your vehicle's license plate number and the desired validity period of the e-vignette. All data is securely encrypted and stored in a database.
